Royal Ascott, Day 4, thoughts and Selections. Bashi here. I’m just about to leave for Ascot day number four. Looks a good card. We kick things off in the 230, the Albany Stakes Phillies Group 3,6 furlongs.
Now, for me, the market has got this spot on it. It’s between the top two in the Market, Fairy Godmother and Mountain Breeze. Now, if you’re just gonna look visually, Mountain Breeze I think was the most impressive last time out, but that form has worked out horrendously. And Fairy Godmother just strikes me, is that typical aide? No, Brian Philly, that’s just gonna continue progressing. Ryan Moore is riding out of his skin this week. I think Fairy Godmother round about 13 to 8 is gonna take all the beating in the first get favorite backers off to a flyer.
Now in the second, the 3:05, the Commonwealth Cup. I can see this going to shake. Mohammed obeyed Almac Tomb in Sharon, traveled so well in the Guineas was impressive.
Laugh that last time out in front of Van Deak and also elite status, taken a big step forward on his reappearance. I think had issues towards the end of last season. They’re hard to split. You’ve got initial at 9 to 4 and you’ve got elite status at 5 to 1. I’d rather be back in a 5 to 1 poke each way in this. So it’s going to be elite status, 5 to 1 each way for me in the second race.
Now in the third race, my nap of the day runs here. Opera Singer backed her at 5:00 to one, backed her again at 7 to 2. She’s now around 6 to 4,13 to 8. She was so impressive last year in France.
I’ve been being told for months about the source for to get everything she does. This is the day. All the money is down. It’s gonna be such a good race, though. You’ve got the one, two from the 1000,1 thousand Guineas at New Market lining up here. I question how good that form is. You Lang Yilang was very disappointing in the Derby. And if people are saying she needed to stays that much, she’s only a couple lengths of them in the Guineas. Opera Singer 13 to 8 hopefully does the business. If this wins the rest of the day is in the green.
Now the 4:25, the Duke of Edinburgh states, I wasn’t gonna have a punishment in this. And I think this horse is horrendous value, but I just can’t see something to take it on.
Now I’ve done quite, very lucky. I’ve done quite a few previews with Ruby Welsh this year. Every single one he’s talked about this Ethical Diamond Dublin race and fest Festival Cheltenham, I think punches down. He absolutely loves this horse. They’ve dropped back to one mile, two on the flat. Beaten in a photo, finished far better. That was his first run. After two months, it will step forward. So round about 11 to follow. That is short enough. I think what I’ll probably do is just have some doubles with the two before. I don’t really wanna be getting stuck in the nose, but Ethical Diamond, 11 to 4 in the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes. Looks one that’s been mapped out for this.
Now the 5:05, the Sandringham Stakes as class 2 over a mile, another tricky race, one where I wanna be taking a bit of a price each way. And why not? I’m gonna go for is Kitty Rose 9 to 1 each way. She’s got loose form with the Oaks winner Azalea, I think she’ll be a much improved torso, faster ground machine. Murphy on board, being righted out of his skin. I can see I’ve been up the pace and kicking. Hopefully she’ll be in the frame or could challenge for the win. And then my last race of the day is gonna be the 5:40, the king Edward group two states of one mile three. I’m just gonna back to here on the nose.
The first one I like is agenda. Now he clicked, kicked clear at Chester around the bend. He was only beaten by the now ill fated, but looked at the world as the hidden law. I think that’s massive form and that’s been overlooked and you get an 8 to 1. I think I’m just gonna back him to win because I also wanna be back in space legend. He really should have one last time out, found traffic was behind Maydan, who was fourth in the Queen’s Vase. Early, unless we earlier in the week. I think he’s a Group 1 horse in the making. But Space Legend and agenda are those in the 5:40 for me. But this day is all about opera singing for me. Hopefully we can have a good day.
