Mastering the Art of Precise Picket Cutting: A Guide with Makita Sliding Compound Mitre Saw

It’s funky shirt Friday.
I’m wearing my trademark gear and I’ve got a tip for you.
So I have to pre cut a whole bunch of these Cypress pickets
uh for this picket fence here.
So I’d like to show you how I go about cutting and taking out
all the thought process.
I’ll be doing all of this on my Makita sliding compound mitre saw.
You see these little holes?
I’m gonna actually attach a piece of timber to that.
So I take my piece of timber I slide it past the cutting area
make it flush with the fence and now I’ll screw it off.
Now that’s nice and secured
I’m gonna make a cut through that piece of timber.
What that now tells us is that’s the cutting edge
so we can now measure off that
the distance of the pickets that we wanna cut
according to my laser measure
I’m looking at a measurement of 13.
I’ll now take my tape measure and measure out the measurement
square that off.
Now I can take a scrap piece of timber and clamp that off to the line.
I actually
decided to add a second scrap piece on this side of the blade
as well that way I can do a pre cut on this side first
and then take that side and butt it up to there and then cut off.
Alright let’s see how we went.
Beautiful.
