Rising Above: The Journey of Competitive Girls Flag Football

We play at 4:30. We’re going on a trip.
We play today, play two on Sunday.
But the tempo gets set today.
Play hard, be positive,
and let’s come back with the win.
We’re off from Ballard Park to hear competitive girls flag football.
From where we’re from, it’s not normal.
Let’s go, ladies on three ladies on me.
One, two,
three. Ladies on!
Wow! Ah!
Run it, baby!
Let’s go, let’s go!
We try to be as loud as the other team is.
When they have more supporters on their team,
it wasn’t the easiest. Just like anything great,
it takes time to build. And these girls have just been amazing.
We started our energy in the game and at least we showed up and played.
The beauty about all this
is that we competed against girls that played since they were like 7,
8 years old. 6 foot tall,
5 foot 8, and we had 5 foot 3,
5 foot 2. We took that dream and we round with it
to see what it creates for kids.
And the community has been endless.
Taking the losses, taking the wins. And they rode the wave.
Run, run,
run, run!
Go get it! Go get it! Go get it!
