I was today
years old when I found out that if you have an LLC in Montana,
you don’t have to pay sales tax on any car, truck,
RV, or anything.
And this is, like,
entirely legit. Montana is the only state
which imposes no sales tax on purchase of vehicles.
So let’s say you’re trying to buy a car that’s $200,000.
In any other state in the United States,
you’d be paying 14 grand just in taxes alone.
And this is money you can’t get back.
So say you go to sell the car,
you spent 214,000 on the car because you got tax.
14 grand. But say they only want to buy it for 180 grand
because you put miles on it,
yada yada. They gotta make money now because you pay taxes,
you’re down $34,000. But if you bought the car within Montana LLC,
you’d only be down $20,000,
which, I mean,
obviously you’re still losing money,
but you’re driving an expensive car,
getting content out of it,
getting pleasure out of it,
for basically 20 grand. Because you’re not paying that sales tax,
you’re saving yourself $14,000 for having in a Montana LLC,
which is kind of nuts. And if you’re buying exotic cars,
any car, really.
I mean, it costs like,
I think 15 to three grand to get a Montana LLC,
but it pays for itself if you buy one expensive car.
So you will find me with a Montana license plate on my next Supercar
