Diving into the New Crow Movie: A Rollercoaster of Expectations and Disappointments

Haha my expectations for the new Crow movie were already low,
but holy shit I didn’t think it was gonna be that low.
And honestly, I didn’t do this movie any favors
by rewatching the original last night.
Which by the way, 1,000%
you should watch the original if you haven’t watched any Crow movie.
So if you couldn’t already tell,
I just got back from watching the new Crow movie,
which is a re adaptation of the graphic novel
and a loose remake of the movie from 30 years ago.
And I gotta start off by saying movies are hard to make.
Everyone that was involved in this process gave it their all,
but this one was honestly stuck in production hell.
There was a lot of issues and just a lot of turmoil in general.
And I do wanna be as respectful as possible.
So I’m gonna start off with the positives.
I think Bill Skarsgard is good with what he’s given.
And there was a tough ass action sequence in this movie
that involved a lot of blood
and some pretty cool action choreography.
Where I really leaned in,
you can see my forehead damn near in the damn silver screen.
But really, outside of that I don’t have many positives to say.
I’m really not surprised
because the trailer and the posters were giving CW.
And when you’re comparing that type of quality
to one of the sauciest films of all time.
In the Crow, it Was very unapologetically of its time.
Fucking metal as hell. And this one needs to apologize to us.
they spent so much time and building up Shelley and Eric relationship,
and I’ll give it a couple of moments
where I felt like they had a little bit of chemistry,
but outside of that, I was just like,
what are we doing here, bro?
The dialogue is corny, cringy, some.
The deliveries aren’t that great,
but I’m not a snitch.
They do something new with the villain in this one
that I don’t want to spoil,
but I just thought it was so stupid and dragged out
and really didn’t make sense at times.
The soundtrack in this one can’t hold a candle to the original.
I do appreciate the swings and changes that this adaptation goes for.
Just found myself saying, like,
did we even really need this?
Like, if we’re gonna get a Crow movie,
I just think we need way more talent aboard,
because that first one set a bar
that I don’t think is ever gonna be reached
from any other Crow movie.
True love never dies. But I almost did in that theater.
So really,
this movie shines with the action and Gore,
but it honestly never won me over.
I’m just happy that I’m alive
and I was able to watch a movie in the theater.
Got me some popcorn and some nerd gummy clusters.
Life’s good. All in all,
I ended Up
giving the Crow one and a half stars out of five on letterbox,
by the way. Follow me there for more in depth reviews and let me know.
Are you gonna be watching the Crow this weekend?
And if you’ve seen it,
let me know your thoughts down in the comments below.
And as always, like and follow for more.
