Dissecting Bill Skarsgard’s Performance in ‘The Crow’: A Critical Examination

the crow is Bill Skarsgard’s weakest performance
and here’s why starting with the negatives
the whole entire love story in this movie
is completely dull and completely rushed
you just don’t feel any type of connection between Eric and Shelly
it just feels like two people who kind of just landed in each other’s arms
and the movie just doesn’t let that marinate enough
Neither performance from FKA Twigs or Bill Skarsgard was over the top
it just felt like these were two actors
who were just trying to make this movie flow and move along
I don’t know why but Bill’s version of Eric just felt so out of place
it felt like he was trying to be this character
rather than just showing us who Eric truly is
whether it was like his awkwardness
his tenderness or even his rage
it all just felt so incomplete
a big problem that I had is that it takes about an hour
to get to what you came to the theater for
which shouldn’t have happened at all
because everything before that
like everything leading up to it
just so stretched out for no reason
the true darkness and pain of what this movie was supposed to give you
just felt very wasted as far as the positives
action in this movie is really good
when Eric finally puts that paint on
and understands who he is and what he’s here for
and the movie actually goes crazy
but that’s way towards the end
also the visuals are pretty decent
they give you like some scenes of symbolism put together with some mellow music
and it actually works together
the way I could put it best is that this movie just isn’t boring
cause it actually has a nice pace to it
it’s just that it’s just so uninteresting
overall score I gotta go 1.5 out of 5
I honestly don’t know what happened
