What’s the most surprising movie of 2024 so far?
Despite mixed reviews, I found if to be a heartwarming,
feel good family film.
It really struck a chord with me emotionally about how, yes,
we have to grow up eventually.
We’re not kids forever,
but we can always cherish those childhood memories.
And I was shocked walking out of this one
because it did have a mad marketing campaign.
In my alien
Romulus was comfortably the best film in that franchise since aliens.
And coming into this year I’d only seen the first two alien movies,
so I did some homework before Romulus,
and after trudging through some real stinkers,
I felt iffy about if Romulus could deliver.
And sure enough,
it’s the third best film in the series and a real winner for alien.
But the most surprising movie of the year for me is got to be twisters.
This was not remotely on my radar coming into 2024
because I hadn’t seen the original,
so I watched twister prior to this and I thought it was fine.
But twisters was a pure summer blockbuster from the jump.
It’s what a summer movie should be,
and I see it having a high rewatchability value for years.
