Canadian Music Legacy: Celebrating Diversity and Talent

When I think of, like,
the greatest Canadian musicians,
there’s so many, and you are top of the fucking list. Thanks.
I don’t think so, though.
You what? There’s so many greats from Canada.
Like, what about Johnny Mitchell and Neil Young?
Okay. And, like,
I put them up. Duh.
Celine Dion, the Weeknd,
Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne,
Carly Rae Jepsen, Elana Somerset.
Carly Rae Jepsen, Nelly Furtado,
Drake. Mariana’s Trench. Yes.
Tragically hip. Now there’s a.
I mean, uh,
do you see Elena Morris? That. Yep.
I probably miss somebody, like, amazing.
I gotta say, you guys have an amazing.
Probably Robertson, the band.
You have an amazing program that fosters the arts.
It’s really special, huh?
You have an amazing program in Canada that fosters the arts.
Yeah, you know all about it.
Yes, we do.
So we have, like,
really great program set up, like,
um, federal programs,
and they’re just, like,
meant to support the. For the arts.
So we do have this wonderful,
like, cottage industry.
So, like,
you grow up thinking you could actually do it for a living.
And, you know,
we grew up watching, like,
a lot of Canadian programming,
so you see, like,
more like a reflection locally of, like,
the music people are making,
like, around you
and not just from, like,
one place, you know,
maybe. Obviously we’re exposed to American artists as well,
but we had, like,
a rich upbringing on, like,
on, like,
local Canadian music as Well,
and I think that’s why you see, like,
occasionally even, like,
when you see an artist like Drake doing, like,
shouting out certain people maybe you haven’t heard of,
and then you’re like. You dig a deal deeper
and you realize that they’re really entrenched
in part of the Canadian either urban music culture,
hip hop culture or stuff like that. Yeah.
