Embracing Fun and Real Talk: A Reflection on High Schooler’s Joy and Teacher’s Humor on TikTok

Miss Tougan! Miss Tougan!
Miss Tougan! Like,
just ignore the annoying comments and focus on the good ones.
Why this is so much fun to respond to.
Been getting some comments about how my high schoolers
we did the party hat activity
and also stuff like this about my room.
Also been getting some comments about my videos of what you should
or should not say to teachers.
Mind you, I have an overwhelming amount of positive comments,
and I do see those, and I do love and appreciate them.
Let’s start with the party hats and my room.
Why would we want high schoolers to be miserable?
Why would we not want them to play a fun game?
They are 16 years old. Why can they not play a game and have fun?
Why is that only reserved for little kids?
This is why adults grow up and we have no imagination.
Because we think, oh,
they’re older now and we can’t be playing games.
I think I’m honestly just more shocked that anybody thought that.
That like, party hats in a game in my room are like,
too young for high schoolers.
Because high schoolers are kids too.
Are they not allowed to have fun?
Are they not allowed to be in a room with, like,
colors and stuff? I don’t.
Okay, now about my videos of things to say or to not say to teachers.
I would like to make it very clear that I love my Job.
I love my job. If I did not love my job,
I would not be doing this right now.
I would not be teaching right now.
I also was not intending to complain about my job.
Every job has good and bad parts to it.
There are particularly hard parts about teaching
that I think a lot of people who are not teachers
just don’t understand because you’re not doing the job.
And that’s totally fair. My goal was to simply make some jokes
about some of the hard and challenging parts of teaching.
That doesn’t mean I don’t love my job
or other teachers don’t love their jobs.
You can love your job and still acknowledge
that there are extremely challenging parts to the job.
I’d also just like to add on, like,
relax, people.
It’s not that deep. Like,
it’s a joke. I’m literally just trying to be funny on TikTok.
Like, take a breath.
