The Rise of Week 0 in College Football: From Pumpkin Spice Lattes in August to International Games and Beyond

Pumpkin spice lattes in August.
Is college football turning into Starbucks?
Well, kind of.
2016,
they passed a Week 0 rule that allowed teams to play Hawaii and Hawaii,
as well as national televised non conference games
and foreign travel exemption.
They allowed those teams to play in Week 0
before the traditional start of the college football season
on Labor Day weekend. So are we sneaking up?
Are we gonna move Week 1 to Week 0? Eventually, maybe.
It’s all about money, right?
So this is what’s happening this week zero,
which is Saturday, August 24th.
The big game to watch is where ESPN College Game Day will also be out.
It’s on Saturday at noon eastern time.
It’s in Ireland. Florida State is going to play Georgia Tech.
And watch for College Game Day guest picker,
the fiery redhead from the WWE, Sheamus.
That’s what we need to know about this week
and what happens with Week 0 and Week 1.
Stick around for more on the college football season.
