Renovation Plans: Transforming a Shop into a Functional Garage Space

I think the game plan is with this big door,
you’re gonna be able to drive in.
And I think I’m gonna have the lift angled this direction.
What used to be a shop doesn’t really look like one anymore.
All that’s left is the concrete in the frame.
Everything in between is removed.
All of the electrical and all of the doors.
Now already
I’m changing a few design things with how I want this laid out.
Now before we had a garage door here,
there and then one big sliding door.
The plan was to put one big roll up door there
and then one big garage door here.
Now they have to go through,
remove this load bearing post,
put in a beam up top and then we’re getting a 16 foot long door here
and then nine feet tall. And instead of putting a roll up door here,
we’re gonna go ahead and just finish this off and make this a wall.
We’re still adding a roll up door on this side.
Now one of the things we lost with this renovation is my loft.
We had a ton of storage space that was just tucked upstairs,
never could see it. The issue was the ceiling was very short.
So to compensate for that,
finishing off this wall gives us a lot more storage space
as we could put shelves across this wall and back here.
I think the game plan is with this big door,
You’re gonna be able to drive in.
And I think I’m gonna have the lift angled this direction,
which means I’ve all of this for storage.
I can put a car on the lift below it.
Still have a car here, a car over there,
and a couple cars over there.
The only thing we’re waiting on right now is the garage door.
So they can go ahead and start framing those in
and then frame the rest as well.
Pretty soon here, we’re gonna start seeing some improvements.
