Blink Twice: A Psychological Thriller with a Powerful Message

so I went to go see blink twice last night and this movie is incredible
I think this is one of my favourite movies that I’ve seen so far this year
and maybe even up there with my list with Gone Girl and promising young women
um Zoe Kravitz did an amazing
an amazing job writing and directing this movie
I don’t wanna spoil anything considering this movie just came out this weekend
but I think that this movie is not quite what I was expecting going in
but I was pleasantly surprised with how it ended
based on the trailers I thought that there would be more um
kind of the privilege versus working class themes in this movie
however it seems that wealth was only a variable for the main character
on how to welcome women into um
his trap once these women are trapped there
the power dynamics still remain in keeping them there
which I think is kind of a eerie nod to Epstein’s Island
which is why
I think it was such a good choice to cast Channing Tatum for this role
um cause as much as he is adored by all
we do not know this man his acting in this movie was just remarkable
I mean
he carried the themes of patriarchy
and how damaging that can be to women so well in this movie
it was kind of hard to look at him the same after it
um I mean
Zoe Kravitz the writing was just so amazing
it was so well paced the humour was not over the top
but so fitting for the movie
Naomi Aki and Adra
Aronha I wanna say is how you pronounce her name
um they did amazing as well
I think this was my first time I’ve seen them at least in like a main role
and I genuinely hope to see them in more movies
they did amazing
they had such accurate representation of what it means to be a woman
and how performative it can be at times
as well as how um
divisive we could be but at the end of the day
it’s kind of us
women are all we got as far as how we can stand up for each other
this movie really took the saying forgive and forget to a next level
to say the least um
specifically how dismissive it can be when men say it to women
um either about trauma or about something simple
and also how just collectively uh
we as people tend to go to a hedonistic lifestyle to avoid maybe trauma
or just to survive but how that won’t really solve um
the problems going on and how we can’t just forget
we need to address things and maybe not even forgive
all in all I highly recommend this movie
especially if you like psychological thrillers with a plot twist
um this is definitely right up your alley
also it’s just a crazy ride
you never know what’s gonna happen in the next minute
and it just makes it that much more enjoyable to watch
