My Camaro tried to self implode itself last night,
and this is not a joke whatsoever.
So I came outside at about 11:30 last night
to get my thermos from the Audi,
and I heard this super peculiar noise
while I was getting the water bottle out of my Audi,
coming from the Camaro right around this area.
I don’t know if you guys have seen the specifics on this build,
but I added an entire external fuel pump.
It’s called an auxiliary fuel pump on this car.
I installed it, so I happen to know exactly what it sounds like,
because I jumpered it while I was underneath the car to test it.
And, yeah,
it has a very distinct, to worrying noise.
So my fuel pump happened to be running on this car
for absolutely no reason whatsoever,
and I was lucky enough to catch it.
If I had fallen asleep last night
and I didn’t realize that this was occurring,
then who knows what would have happened?
Because a fuel pump running for 12 hours is not good.
Things could get hot. It is a fuel system,
and that could cause a problem.
As soon as I realized what that noise was last night,
I ran over here, and I disconnected the grounds for it.
What the heck? And it obviously stopped.
So it shouldn’t be getting 12 volts of power
until you go ahead and actually put your foot down.
That’s how these auxiliary fuel pumps Work.
They only start spraying whenever they detect a load.
So it shouldn’t turn on while the car is sitting. And. Yeah,
let’s diagnose. It’s not turning on right now,
but we’ll see in just a second.
So I’m just gonna disconnect the control module for it one more time,
and then hopefully it only turns on when it’s supposed to.
This is actually a computer that controls when it turns on and off,
so this might be the issue.
It’s kind of weird. It fixed itself.
So that’s what it sounds like when it’s on.
And that was the noise it was continuously making.
So I heard that. Ran out here,
disconnected everything.
That should only ever turn on when there’s a load detected
or when I flip the switch.
Guess it fixed itself. Kind of odd.
