Welcome back to the house series,
part 7 and Part 6, we focused on this side of the kitchen.
Got it under control.
And now we’re gonna do the same exact thing over here,
following the exact steps that you Learned in Part 6.
I’m going to start with the counters and start clearing out.
That’s collecting items that don’t belong
and also removing trash and clearing out our space.
Once that’s under control,
I’m gonna move to one side of the kitchen and focus on the cabinets.
Little heads up. So
we have kitchen and pantry items spread out
and scattered throughout the house
in several areas. So
I know we have way more to address
than what you’re actually seeing in the kitchen,
but I need to start with the kitchen and get my base,
my foundation, under control.
We are focused on the first three steps.
Clear out, categorize,
cut out. And we’re gonna repeat that
until we’ve gotten through all of the categories.
Once that upper cabinet was completed,
we moved on to the bottom cabinets,
and she already had these pretty well categorized,
so we just went through. Did a good declutter.
She went through item by item,
evaluated what and how much she had of each category,
and decided what she wanted most,
what she used the most, what she liked the best.
She chose what items deserved her space.
The overall goal
when decluttering is to be able to live within the space.
You have, and how much you can own depends on how much space you have.
Once those bottom cabinets were done,
then I moved into the drawers,
did the same exact steps. This is a really great example
to show you
that you don’t have to complete an entire kitchen in one day,
and it’s probably not realistic,
especially if you struggle with clutter.
Don’t pull it all out at once.
Make a big mess, then get exhausted, overwhelmed.
Then you’re not gonna Wanna try again.
Baby steps lead to big results.
Finished up the day by decluttering the pantry.
And in six hours,
these are all of our donation bags that are leaving the house today.
We’re gonna load them up in her car and she’s gonna drop them off.
We’ve got a pile of recycling and a pile of trash.
As always, this is where we started.
And by following the method,
sticking to the steps, this is where we are.
We have cleared off counters,
decluttered cabinets and drawers.
This kitchen is under control.
Now we’re ready to move on to a room next to the kitchen
that holds a lot of kitchen related items and food.
