Loaded and Ready: Sandy Creek Cougars Primed for Success in 2024

Practice report. Sandy Creek scrimmage day here with the Cougars.
And man, they return a lot.
Expectations are obviously once again very high after 2023 season
that ended in a semi final loss to eventual champion Stan.
The only loss of the season for Sandy Creek Washington.
They return seven players that started on offense
and all eight that started on defense.
So there’s a lot of knowns.
We’re not going to have any unknowns,
I don’t think. Cause I think it’s pretty clear.
So let’s just get right to it.
Let’s start with the knowns.
Known commodities. Players that um.
Or position groups that return a lot of production.
Like I said, they have a lot. Um.
Ethan Shaw. Let’s back
start with the backfield. Ethan Shaw is the quarterback
and he’s back. He had a terrific year last year
with 16 hundred and twenty two yards passing
and thirty two touchdowns through the air.
He also had 13 and twenty two yards rushing
and twenty eight touchdowns on the ground.
Another couple names in the backfield
there is Caden Schmidt and Ben Sullivan.
Those guys got some work in in the backfield today.
Another name is Connor Rempy.
He’s gonna be in my pass catchers and that’s what we’ll go next.
But Rempy can run the ball.
They’ll use him pretty well in the run game on some sweeps
and can line him up basically everywhere.
He had 550 rushing yards last year and eight touchdowns.
He also LED the Team with 751 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns.
In that pass catcher group you have Jacob Peter is a big target.
And West West built off uh.
Who can go up and get it in the red zone.
He kind of mossed a guy today in practice.
Austin Clark is another name there.
And another guy that’s emerging is Cameron Sealy as a pass catcher
up front. They are big and they have a lot of depth up front.
Not a lot of eight man teams can say that,
but Sandy Creek certainly does.
Hudson Delvin is about 6 5 2 30.
He returns. He had on defense.
He had eleven and a/2 tackles for loss last year.
But he’ll also start in the offensive line.
Jack Watts is a center. Big body,
tough kid. Um,
sophomore Christian Shaw is a name that he continues to grow.
Watch out cause he’s got a long frame.
He’s got a little mean to him.
I think he has a chance to maybe,
you know, college stuff is what I’m talking about.
Recruitment there. There’s a lot of depth up front that you really like.
And Jackson Heath, Josh Spray and uh.
Cage Kachmeister are two name.
Are three names that can provide a lot of depth.
Maybe not the front front line guys,
but they were able to split teams up into two
and it really was competitive.
When you go to the defensive line,
you add Jacob Pete Peter on that group. Um.
And Again, they’re pretty big and.
And decently athletic, especially on the outside linebacker.
Love them. Austin Clark had 134 total tackles.
Uh, sophomore again,
west built off, uh,
will be. Can.
Can play up front, and they can move him around a little bit.
He can play standing up as well.
He had 112 total tackles last year and eight tackles for loss.
And defensive back. Well,
that’s Shaw and Rempy.
And Rempy had 107 total tackles and six interceptions.
There’s a couple of other names.
That defensive back there, too,
but those are the two main guys.
High expectations here in Sandy Creek this year for 2024.
