Do you wanna watch a horror movie with this vibe?
I’m talking creepy cults. And just to be clear,
I’m not gonna be talking about cults that are worshipping
something like supernatural.
I’m talking more like Manson style cults.
Also, please,
please read up on trigger warnings before watching any of these movies.
These are not nice movies.
The first movie is Holy Ghost People.
Charlotte is looking for her missing sister.
she realizes her sister joined a cult called the church of One Accord
and they seem to be really into snakes.
First of all, the vibes of this movie, incredible.
You are getting a cult vibe.
It is set in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee.
So you are getting an Appalachian vibe
and you are also getting a southern Gothic vibe.
I know you guys really like southern Gothic horror movies.
I did southern Gothic horror movie suggestion video and it went viral.
So you guys seem to really like that.
So watch this movie because it has that vibe.
I will say this movie was really hard to find.
Like it took me a minute to find it.
But hopefully wherever you live,
you’re able to access this movie.
Second movie is Savage Messiah.
A social worker is really concerned
about a group of people that are living in Quebec.
She finds out about a group of people,
one man and a bunch of women who are living in isolation
and she is certain that Abuse is happening to the women and children,
so she does everything in her power to expose this man.
Now, this is based on a true story.
They’re calling this van the Charles Manson of Canada.
You can look it up. His name was Rock Through Low.
I will warn you, this movie is a bit low budget.
It’s kind of filmed in like a TV movie style,
but overall it’s a pretty decent watch.
Next movie is The Sacrament.
This is filmed in a documentary style
where we follow two journalists who are trying to friend,
to reunite their friend’s sister.
They go to a commune in South America
and it seems like his sister may have joined Eden of the Parish
where they worship someone who they call father.
But father is up to no good.
I think a lot of people have heard about this movie or have seen it,
and it is about the Jonestown massacre.
It is very well done. I do recommend it if you’re into cult movies.
Now, the next movie is,
I have to read it, Martha Marcy,
May Marlene, starring Elizabeth Olsen,
a woman who has escaped a cult
goes to live with her sister and her husband.
While she is living with her sister,
she has very odd behavior,
but her behavior is explained
when she’s having flashbacks of the time when she was in the cult.
You guys are gonna have to read up on trigger warnings with this One,
cause this is a hard watch.
This movie is really well made.
She joins like
a Manson style cult with a lot of abuse and a lot of control.
So we follow her as she takes charge of her own life
and tries to leave behind her old one.
