Exploring North Carolina Cuisine: A Day of Delightful Eats in Grandfather

only eating famous North Carolina foods
for a full day
so I’m on a boys golf trip
to the beautiful town of Grandfather,
North Carolina
and while I’m not good at golf
these Cheerwine Ales do help
They are a unique North Carolina treat
which combine Cheerwine soda and a wheat ale
For lunch, I stopped at the 10th Tee
and got a North Carolina special
a pimento cheese sandwich
Pimento cheese is cheddar cheese
mixed with Carolina favorite
Duke’s Mayo
and sometimes topped with
Texas Pete hot sauce
which ironically is from North Carolina
not Texas
After golf
went down into the Champions Hall
because I heard the men’s locker room has free snacks and pastries
so naturally I helped myself to a couple cookies
and then I went on to making myself
an Arnold Palmer which really hit the spot
later had to get some Carolina bbq
I went to the Peddlin’ Pig near Boone, NC
and got a big smoked meat sampler
pulled pork, ribs,
brisket with all the classic sides
so North Carolina is divided in terms of sauce
Eastern Carolina does a tangy apple cider vinegar based sauce
and Western Carolina does a thicker
sweeter sauce
both are good
but I’m definitely an Eastern Carolina sauce guy
and in case you missed it
I ate at Cookout,
a North Carolina favorite for the first time
so go check out that video and as always,
follow for more food adventures
