Auntie Shawnee’s Kitchen: A Delicious Journey of Love and Flavor

Good eaters. The food at this restaurant is so good,
it literally overwhelmed me and had me blushing at the table.
Shawnee’s house is designed to feel like a home,
and they’ve only been open three years and since then,
been ranked No. 50 in the New York Times.
Miss Shawnee puts her heart into the food.
She literally started me off with this sweet potato cornbread
with actual yams on the inside,
before I ordered these sweet Daddy wings and truffle fries.
And the sauce was super sweet and savory at the same time,
and it’s crazy to think that was just a start.
The catfish came right out the grease,
and I wasn’t prepared for all the love that she put into this food.
I paired it with the collard greens and the yams.
Look at that glaze. Now
I couldn’t get enough of her food.
These ribs had me at the table
going back for bite after bite after bite.
I ordered regular Mac, but was told to try the shrimp Mac,
which had me skeptical at first.
But it was love at first bite,
and I’m here to tell you it’s a must try.
And if you know me, you know I have to order oxtail.
And if I’m being honest, at this point,
I start calling Miss Shawnee Auntie Shawnee
because her food is so good.
I am inviting myself to be a part of the family.
