A Day in the Life: Self-Care, Parenting, and Preparing for Adventures

I didn’t wake up this morning with the mission of cleaning the shower drain, but when I went to take a shower, it caught like the perfect lighting. And for the first time in the seven years that we’ve been here, I saw all the hair and gunk that was built up in the drain. So I was like, well, I guess that’s probably time that I should do that. And it was disgusting, but hey, I felt kind of accomplished. But anyways, a little self care time at around this time is about 9:00 in the morning. We’re just really getting our day started. But if anyone wonders how I’m able to get in a little bit of self care time, take showers, do my hair, do my makeup, get dressed with five. It’s, well, I fully believe that we make time for what’s important to us. And getting ready, getting dressed, getting clean, taking care of myself is not only important and vital for me and my mental health, but it my whole family benefits from it. Also, just being 100% transparent for my job as a content creator is just good for me to be ready for anything if I ever need to hop on a call, if I need to make a spontaneous video, it’s good to just be dressed, have on a little bit of makeup, skincare, even if it’s just like a super light face. So call it camera ready, if you will.

But that’s kind of my thought process behind it. I’m getting ready for my job. But then also, guys, it makes me feel good. I’m gonna stay at home mom for 12 years. And the days where I take the time for self care make me feel great, make me feel way more motivated to get things done.

Anywho. Our days are weird during the summer, my little kids wake up like super early and I kind of have them trained to either get a snack for themselves or make themselves breakfast. My older kids can make themselves eggs. They have, you know, access to things that they can cook by themselves. If I’m still sleeping. And then my younger kids saying they can get snacks or like packs and eat pouches or Max or Grayson has some sort of snack. So my kids, people often say like, how are you able to get all that done before you even feed your kids? Well, to be honest with you, my kids get up and they fend for themselves a lot of days. And I love it that way.

But then when it’s time for a bigger meal, I am there to cook that bigger meal. So this is what we’re gonna call a brunch. Kind of too late for breakfast, a little early for lunch. So something right there in between made all the non allergy kids some macaroni cheese. Yes, pre packaged but it is what it is. Then cooked up some chicken nuggets, some fish sticks and serve some fruit to all the kids. At this point, I got my older boys to come down to eat as well. So this is their first meal of the day because they slept so late. I’m always a happy girl when I get some packages. Today was a little bit boring, but I got my factor meals. I love factory meals. They have been a huge part of my health journey.

And then I also got in some stuff for me and Willows, Alaska trip that we’re going on in August. I got her some waterproof pants and then I got me this light rain jacket. I hope it’s enough. I’m gonna take like a heavier coat as well. I’m thinking a light rain jacket for both of us and then a heavier warmer coat for both of us just in case it’s colder. But I’m thinking it’s gonna be fall weather. I don’t know. I’m just packing for everything. But my son Paxson is always wanting to go outside. So I try to get him outside every single day. I even told my boys, I’m like, my older boys, like you guys to go outside for at least an hour, go ride bikes, go play pool in the garage. Like, I don’t care what you do, you’re not gonna see my older kids on camera very often because cuz they don’t care to be on camera. But I made the older boys go ride their bikes around the block a couple of times, get outside for a little bit, cleaned up porch. And then every time I try to sit down, it’s like one thing after another. I don’t get to sit down very much, but bought the fan out for my oldest son cuz I got convinced him to sit out on the porch with me for a little bit and then we spotted some Hornet. So anyway, this is just kind of a look at a random summer day with all five of my babies.
