Will Black Myth Wukong change your mind?
If you’re not a fan of souls born or souls like games,
probably not. But if you are a fan of the genre,
this is pretty incredible.
I’m not the biggest souls guy,
but after hearing so many mixed impressions
on whether this game was a souls like
or not, I’ve even heard it compared to the god of war games
and the Star Wars Jedi games,
I decided to finally cave and give it a shot this weekend.
Now I think this is very much so a souls type of game,
so if that’s not your cup of tea,
you might want to steer clear of this one.
But for what it’s worth,
so far this is one of the best games I’ve played from this genre.
From a presentation standpoint,
this is a technical marvel.
This is one of the best looking games available now
on the PlayStation 5. I love the world they created here.
The enemies I’ve encountered so far have really cool,
unique designs. And despite this being a linear game,
the world still feels so vast and lively.
There’s an interesting story here
full of interesting characters
that I want to experience and learn more about.
The combat feels great. Your attacks feel fast and powerful,
you really feel every single hit that lands on the enemies.
And there are more than plenty of bosses for you to encounter.
I was surprised by how many bosses I Fought
within just the first few hours alone.
And if you’re looking for challenge,
don’t worry, this game has got plenty of that
and it will whoop your butt.
I do think it’s important to note
that there are no difficulty modes in this game,
so if you were hoping to crank the difficulty down a notch,
that isn’t an option here.
I completely understand if that unsells some players on this title.
I don’t know if I’m gonna personally see this game through to the end,
simply because these games usually aren’t my cup of tea,
but there is no denying that this is an incredibly well made game,
that it is absolutely worthy of all the hype and price surrounding it.
And if I do happen to not finish this game,
I might even watch the cutscenes for this one,
because the story did genuinely get its hooks in me
and I do want to see how it ends.
