Gaming Roundup: Highlights from Gamescom, New Releases, and Major Announcements

Here all the bigger things you missed in gaming this week
Gamescom happened this past week and with it came a ton of announcements
especially in Opening Night Live
I made a video about all the announcements
put some of the big ones for me were:
Borderlands 4 was announced for next year
Dune Awakening is releasing in early 2025 on PC
Marvel Rivals is officially releasing on December 6 this year
A Mafia prequel game called Mafia; The Old Country was announced
The Game Awards will air this December 12th
And Indiana Jones is coming to Xbox Series consoles
and PC on December 9th this year
And then releasing on PS5 in spring of next year
Phil Spencer said more changes are coming
following the Indiana Jones PS5 announcement
The PS5 Pro was apparently an “open secret” at Gamescom
and could be released later this year
Nintendo held a Nintendo Museum Direct
and showed off what’s going to be on display at their new museum
opening in Kyoto later this year
The cease & desist that took down the H2M mod from Activision
was apparently
because it threatened to “take away from Call of Duty developers efforts”
Hands on previews job for Silent Hill 2 Remake
and reviewers are saying that it’s better than they expected
Final Fantasy 16 was officially announced for PC
releasing next month on September 17th
The new Fantasy Life game has been delayed past its October 10th release date
and no new release date was given
The Backyard Sports
franchise is going to reboot and expand with film and television projects
so welcome back Pablo Sanchez
Vampire The Masquerade
Bloodlines 2 has been delayed, yeah again, to the first half of 2025
PlayStation is doing a big Death Stranding 2
PlayStation Presents at Tokyo Game Show this year
It’s now been confirmed that
Avowed is going to run at 30 fps on Xbox series consoles
And amidst the video game actors strike against AI
the boss of Amazon Games says that AI is needed more
because they “don’t really have acting” in games now
Game releases this week include: Predecessor
which is a spiritual reboot of sorts of Epic’s now defunct MOBA Paragon
It’s released out of early access on PlayStation 5
Xbox Series X and S consoles and PC
Strategy game Tactical Breach
Wizards also released on PC dust borne released on Xbox PlayStation NPC
Guild Wars 2: The Janthir Wilds released on PC
Classic Marathon Infinity released on PC
The new first party PlayStation Studios live service game Concord
released on PS5 and PC this week
And it is not doing well at all
Black Myth Wukong released on PS5 and PC
And it has already sold over 10 million copies
And apparently it has caused PS5 shortages in China
And also Deadlock, Valve’s new hero shooter / MOBA,
the worst kept secret in gaming, has been officially announced
but it’s still invite based to start playing the game
Here are some of the games coming to Xbox
Game Pass that were announced this week
The Chef survivor was announced for Risk of Rain 2’s Seekers of the Storm DLC
Animal Crossing Pocket Camp is shutting down this November 28th
but an offline version of the game is in development
Crystal Dynamics announced a Kickstarter for a Soul Reaver prequel graphic novel
and it’s meant its goal already
And finally it seems that at some point Crash Bandicoot 5 was in development
but it has since been cancelled
