This comment is typical of the puzzlement that old money arouses in people
The thing is it wasn’t difficult because it was money
If you went into the shop and bar of chocolate was going to cost you sixpence
and you looked in your pocket and you had a shilling
You gave him a shilling and he gave you sixpence change
There were 12 pennies in the shilling
You didn’t have to do any maths really
No more than you do today with coins
Although it’s interesting
People don’t use coins anymore, do they!
