Respecting Celebrity Boundaries: Lessons from Chappel Roan on Fan Interaction and Appreciation

Chappel Roan is single handedly
changing the way that
we interact with celebrities
as fans
forever
and I love it
it is so Gen Z of her to go on her platform
and set the record straight
that just because she chose this career for her passion in life
does not mean that you are entitled to an interaction
you are not entitled to a picture with her
you are not entitled to her time
I’ve seen a lot of people saying that wow
she just got famous and she’s already acting this way
or the old
this comes with fame
maybe don’t become famous if you don’t want people to recognise you
it doesn’t matter if you’re a famous popstar
or a famous surgeon
or a famous author
you don’t owe anyone your time
your gift to the world is the product that you produce
if you wanna feel closer to Chappel
listen to her music
support her social media
buy a ticket to her
show save your money
and go to a meet and greet
don’t run up to her and bother her
when she’s grocery shopping at Walmart
Chappel said in an interview
I chose this career path because I love music and art
and I wanna honour my inner child
I do not accept h*r*ssment of any kind just because I chose this job
nor do I deserve it
you tell them Queen
the real ones will stick behind you and support you and they understand
because while that picture might be a once in a lifetime moment
for you to post on the gram
and brag about how you met so and so today
that celebrity will forever remember you
as another one of their millions of fans
that made them feel like a show pony
to be used for likes to be used for clout
let’s not do that to Chappel
let’s appreciate her music the way that she would want us to
respectfully from a distance
cause that’s a human being
leave her alone!!!!!
