Scale Comparison: From F16s to the Enterprise D – Exploring the Enormity of Military Aircraft

Have you ever found yourself wondering just how big different military aircraft actually are as compared to one another and a regular sized person? If you look really closely next to that F16 by the cockpit, you can see a little dot that represents me, your average six foot tall airplane nerd. And as you can see, the F16 is a pretty dinky little fighter, as is the F35A. And I was honestly pretty surprised and how small the space shuttle is. I just expected it to be bigger. It has such a presence every time I’ve seen it in person. So then I started thinking about comparing these aircraft to even bigger aircraft, like a C seventeen or a C 5M Super Galaxy, or the A N TWO TWENTY FIVE that was destroyed in Ukraine about two years ago. And then on this side, we’ve got a B36 Peacemaker, a B29, an X B70, all of which are massive platforms. So then I wanted to get a bit bigger. how big are these aircraft compared to a Nimitz class aircraft carrier? Or for that matter, the Enterprise A, which surprisingly, is about the size of a Nimitz class aircraft carrier. And that got me wondering about the Enterprise D, which is so huge, it dwarfs everything else on this page. I mean, that’s the Spruce Goose right there. This is a B52 Stratofortress. And it could land inside the shuttle bay of the Enterprise D. That’s mind blowing, even if it’s all made Up. What do you guys think? What’s the next thing I should add to this scale comparison file?
