These are the three college volleyball teams that I’m most excited to watch this season. This list is based on a mixture of both personal bias and overall excitement for these teams new additions. First team on my list is the Florida Gators. With an unlucky break last season with injuries, Florida is coming into the season with a lot to be excited about. Alexis Stuckey may not be back in time for non conference play, they will still have their absolute powerhouse right side, Kennedy Martin. Add some talented freshmen in the middle and build their depth in outsides and D’s. This is the first season in a while where we have no clue what the starting lineup will be, and that’s what makes it exciting. The second team on my list is the Penn State Nittany Lions. Although they lose half their starters, they bring back key players like Jess Merrick and Cameron Hannah, while also bringing in two transfers from Nebraska and Maggie Mendelson and Caroline Jurevicius. They also will have one of the best incoming freshman setters, Izzy Stark, taking charge of the offense, which will be fun to watch. And the third team on my list is the Wisconsin Badgers. Similar to Penn State, they lose a few of their starters, including both of their setters, but they bring back national player of the year Sarah Franklin, 6 foot 9 opposite hitter Anna Smerek, and bring in a phenomenal freshman setter, Charlie Furbring. What? I’m most excited to see is if the Badgers will switch to a 5 1 offense and whether Julia Orzole will move back to outside hitter or stay at libero. Comment below which team you’re most excited to watch this season.
