The Heart and Soul of the Raiders: Reflecting on Elliott Whitehead’s Impact

Up there with the greatest signings we’ve ever had. He might not great footballer, he might not be the biggest star we’ve had in terms of out and out football, electric sets up, try, scores and does all that. But just the cultural impact he’s had at this club and the success he has had at the Raiders over the years. You saw him crying post match speak about what it means to wear that Jersey to him. Just, jeez, that’s special. That summed it all up, the heart and soul of it. Like just to get asked a question, what does the Raiders mean to you? And then to be brought to tears. Like I hope Raiders fans, and I think they do, but remember like this guy, that’s how much it means. Like you can have the, the greatest player of all time and it won’t, it won’t mean as much as what it meant to Elliott Whitehead. Like remember how much it meant to this bloke. Cause that, you can’t buy that. No. Oh, Raiders fans know. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Absolutely. I just, you know, often players are, they’re selfish, they’re greedy and, and granted there are some that are mercenary and they put themselves first or whatever. But when a guy comes along like Elliot Whitehead and acts the way he has for 10 years, 15 years, appreciate it. Cause it’s very rare. It’s very rare. Huge loss. Yeah. I said as much off the Field than on it.
