Student Survival Guide: Navigating College Life on a Budget

Just a girl with a dream and making it through a cost of living crisis on a budget. Hey, it’s growl! And whether it’s your first year or your final year in college, I’ve got a few tips and tricks to help you save a little bit of money on the everyday thing. One of the first things I always recommend students to get is Uni Days. Uni Days is an app that has a load of different student discounts, everything from ASOS to Lululemon to Milanos. It’s great for online shopping and it’s also great for in stores as well. The second piece of advice is not to buy Microsoft Office. I see a lot of computer shops at the moment offering this as part of their package on their new deals or whatever. But a lot of colleges actually give this to you whenever you go into college. This was my experience in Manchester University and also in DCU. Something to definitely Google to check check if your college does it, but a lot of them seem to do it. Thirdly, get your student Leap card. Not only is it great for the discounted rates of travel, but it’s also an extra form of identification as well, which is great. No. 4 if you’re looking for a cheap dinner or cheap lunch. Be sure to keep an eye on too good to go. It’s an app where restaurants put up their leftovers at the end of the day. And it’s a great way to save some money and get some really good food. And finally, if you drink coffee or tea, squid is a great app to have on hand. It’s an app where you can keep all of your loyalty points for loads of different places where you get coffee from. I know whenever I was in Manila, a lot of people used to save all of their points and then use them all at exam time for free coffees.
