Hot Day Golf Cart Project: Engine Swap and Customization Adventures

Who in their right mind picks the hottest day to do any outdoor projects? Me, apparently. I finally got the motor out of the golf cart. Ugly thing. Got a predator 4 20 to replace it and right now it actually doesn’t look like I need to do a whole lot to make this work. The drive clutch and driven clutch I got set up is gonna work perfect. I’ve already kind of dry fit everything. I was hoping this 4:20 predator mount would just line right up with that bottom one, and of course it doesn’t. A little too wide so I also needed to rise up just a little bit. So what I’m thinking is take some square stock and kind of make some legs across and then I’ll weld that bracket on there after that. Getting the motor is pretty easy peasy and then just got to get the clutches and belt set up. Of course that also means I can get rid of all of that is this motor has all of its own stuff. It’s got electronic ignition, electric start, it’s got its own key and everything. I don’t need any of that nonsense. Getting the motor in and the clutches set up is actually the easy part. It’s all the nonsense after. I gotta get a throttle cable from the pedal. That’s actually not a hard part at all. I have to figure out an exhaust situation cause the exhaust on the predator is Gonna blow pretty much this way right into the back of the shell. So I’m gonna run an exhaust out and I honestly think I mean dude, first of all, look at these sick SS rims. I’m thinking about coming straight down and then coming out with a little side pipe. Actually got that idea when I was doing the resonator delete kit on the truck earlier. I got to figure out my fuel situation. This tank is pretty much shot so I want it gone anyway. The Predator 4 20 has a pretty good sized tank that I might end up mounting down here, but it’s a gravity fed motor. Currently. I do have the pulse pump that I had to put in when the stock Mitsubishi pump failed on the previous motor. So I’ll probably just go that route just because. I already have the pulse pump and I can easily just snag vacuum somewhere off the motor. But back to the muffler. Even if I drop it down and come out, I do have to figure out an actual muffler. Maybe I can make this one work and just weld up something to make it quiet. I’m all for a straight pipe, but I still have to pass inspection in my town anyway. Lost track of time, got some other things taken apart and as you can see that motor is gonna fit in there beautifully. Clutches are gonna line up beautifully. I got some parts to Order! So now it’s time to call it a day. It’s hot. Stay hydrated.
