A Kindergarten Teacher’s Busy Start: Reflections on the First Days of School

It’s the first day of school and I already know what y’all thinking, girl, wasn’t the first day of school like, a long time ago? And the answer is yes, because I underestimated how busy I was gonna be as a kindergarten teacher. When I tell you school started like two weeks ago, I was not prepared for what I had in store. Like, look at our first day of school. I was introducing myself, I showed them that I got engaged. I was like, oh, we’re gonna have so much fun this year. But for the last two weeks, I have literally not even had time to recover from the day before. I am so exhausted. Don’t get me wrong, I love these babies. The last two weeks I have been full attention on these kids. That’s why I haven’t created any content because I am like 100% teacher mode again. Being back in kinder really opened my eyes to realise, wow, we put so much work into being kindergarten teacher. I’m literally on my feet all day long. And I’m not talking like a normal teacher on their feet. I’m talking about I have to be running back and forth making sure people are not running out of my room and leaving whenever they want. Because remember guys, it’s the your first time ever in school. And I honestly just wanna make sure that they have the best time ever. Obviously on the first day of school, we Had to make jitter juice, which is just. And Gatorade powder, but they think it’s a magic drink. And I was so happy because at the end of the day, my students from last year came to visit me, and they just look so grown up. And when we finally got home, we were so exhausted. I’m definitely ready for this year, but I’m gonna need a lot of rest.
