So when we talk about pressing, the initial starting point is the triggers of when to go and press. The players recognise when the opportunity is there to go and try and win the ball back. So it could be a bad touch or a bad pass or when you lose possession, you’re in a better position to try and win the ball back straight away cause your teammates will be surrounding you to support you on the ball. So if you lose the ball back, try and win it back as quick as you can. Gonna set up a small sided game. Pitch size and numbers suitable to the format and the age of your players. And you’re gonna split your pitch into thirds. Now the aim of the game is to try and win the ball back as high up the pitch as possible. Because when you regain possession and then go and score, the value of goals that you score is depending on which third of the pitch that you win the ball back. So let’s say for example here the blue players are in their defensive third. The yellows are gonna press To try and win the ball back in the yellows final third. If they do win the ball back in score, then it’s gonna be worth three goals. If you regain possession in the middle third and then go and score, then it is worth two goals. If you win the ball back in your defensive third and then go and score, then it’s only worth one. So teams are encouraged to try and win the ball back as high as the pitch they can, which
