Fixing a Neighbor’s PC: Replacing the Bad Motherboard and Testing the GPU

Part 2 of fixing a neighbor’s PC. We found out that the motherboard was bad. So let’s go ahead and repair that. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s the only board that I have that’s not spoken for currently. So we’re gonna go ahead and put this in there. Right now we’re just taking this bracket off so I can use the cooler. We’re gonna take the SSD out, take all of this stuff and then swap in the new board. Right now we’re just installing the cooler. So we’re just gonna hook on this bracket right here. We put in the new motherboard and we’re just screwing it in. We’re gonna slap this guy back together so we can get back to gaming. We’re gonna have to reroute the 3.0 cause it’s down here as opposed to over here on this board. So we’re gonna have to cut this zip tie. I cannot tell you how careful you need to be. Do not cut a fan cable. Let’s go ahead and wire this guy up. Power LEDs reset. Done. Technically don’t know if this GPU works. Still. Plug this guy in. So here’s the actual test. Just to see if we get any signal with this GPU. And we’re using HDMI right now cause I wanna see if that’s the issue. As you can see with that setup we have boot boys. I just text him to let him know his computer is completely fixed and we’re doing it completely Free. He’s a little camera shy, but it doesn’t matter. If you can help somebody, and you can afford to always help somebody, it’ll come back tenfold.
