Unbreakable and Split: Exploring Special Powers and Childhood Trauma

Kevin Wendell Crumb, he’s in unbreakable. In unbreakable, David Dunn. When he’s begins learning that he might have special powers, he starts using that to see into people’s past and their experiences. When he touches people who have gone through trauma or been abused or are abusers, he can see the memories and flashbacks in their minds. He does it first time at the train station, and then he does it again at work. He works at the, the stadium in the college. And what happens is David Dunn bumps into a little boy. This little boy is being pulled by the. Dragged by her his arm by a woman in red. And then he gets a flashback. And now Kevin in split had an abusive mother. And there’s that shot of him as a child hiding from his mom. She jumps down under the bed and screams at him. Now, in the unbreakable scene, when David Dunn bumps into people, he’ll hear that person’s voice and see their memories. When he bumped into the little boy, he heard multiple voices. Oh, my god. Hence the split personality already forming inside of young Kevin. Kevin Wendell Crumb’s mind. Yeah, that’s a great. That’s awesome. I, I remember that scene. Yeah. And that’s kind of where I thought it would be.
