this year has been a huge year for pop albums but which one is coming out on top according to the critics I’m gonna tell you what the critics ranking is of these seven albums first up if you love pop music hit follow so coming in at No. 7 with a score of 76 on Metacritic is Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets department this one I think was hurt by the inclusion of the anthology and it’s one of her worst rated albums in No. 6 we have Sabrina Carpenter’s Short and sweet now there are still reviews coming out for this so it could rise I think the critics enjoyed the humour in this but took points away for doing nothing inventive in terms of the production No. 5 Gracie Abrams the secret of us I got a really good Metacritic score of AC critics enjoyed the songwriting but at points thought it was derivative in No. 4 we have Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine with a Metacritic score of 84 again very good they gravitated towards the personal lyrics but also the concise and cohesive nature of the project No.3 with 89 Billie Eilish’s hit me hard and soft I think this one won critics over with how inventive it was in terms of the production but also how much Billie Eilish stretched herself vocally No.2 Beyonce’s Cowboy Cardo with 91 on Metacritic obviously it’s Beyonce she’s no stranger to great critical appraisal but this one really won out because it was like an essay on country music and its roots and in No. 1 with the best Metacritic score of the year is Charli XCX’s Brat which seemed to unanimously win over critics at the start of the year I just never would have placed this one at the top but critics went wild for this album because it’s so authentic and true to her interested to know what your ranking would be drop it in the comments
