From Immigrant Teen to Immigration Lawyer: My Journey of Advocacy and Service

I was 14 years old when I first arrived to the United States. It was very difficult for me to handle this change of life. You just feel so lost. I’m an immigration lawyer. I work with unaccompanied immigrant children. We are representing children for free who are either facing deportation in immigration court or who are undocumented, and we help them to apply for a legal immigration status. I am currently the only lawyer handling all of the cases for the organization. I currently have about 90 cases, so I’ve overdone it. Um, we help connect them with resources in the community to meet those needs. I was able to go to the newcomer program that Project Libertad had after school, and that’s where I got the help from Rachel. I joined the Army National Guard, which has been one of my dreams.
