Reevaluating the AM5 CPUs for Gaming: Reflecting on Ryzen 9,000 Flop and Future Possibilities

One of my consistent takes about choosing AM5 CPUs for your gaming PC got called out recently and it’s actually pretty valid. So let’s have a talk. Zach get AM5 for Ryzen 9,000. Ryzen 9,000 flops. Zach at AM5 for Ryzen 9,000 X3D face palm one of the key selling points of Ryzen 7,000 AM5 CPUs were the upgrade ability because we knew you’d be able to upgrade to 9,000 later on down the line. After the bop of 9,000 series though, absolutely. Nobody should be upgrading from 7,000 to 9,000 because the performance increases like 3%. So yeah, in that regard it did not paying out well. But what we have to remember is that AMD committed to building chips for AM5 through the year 2027, so more generations of CPUs are still definitely coming. Over the last like decade of both CPUs and GPUs. Typically we’re seeing a pattern of one generation sucking and then the next generation being a banger. Ryzen 7,000 was a banger, but then 9,000 series completely flopped. Hopefully that means the next generation is good though. The argument of what that guy said is definitely valid, but remember that AM5 still has a long way to go.
