DIY Summer Basket Makeover: Trash to Treasure for Under $27

Now take your other pan and just press it directly down into that. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. You won’t believe how much I picked this up for at the thrift store. Take your pool noodle. Put the pool noodle right in the front. This is just a regular zip tie. You could use black or clear. But all I have left are colored. But that’s not gonna matter. This is gonna help us beat the summer heat. When you get to the corner, bring it around the corner. Alright, let’s spruce this up. Or as my grandfather would say, let’s put lipstick on a pig. So take the flowers. I’m using artificial flowers. I’m gonna space the red ones out about 6 inches apart. Understand in a second why you need to do that. All right, last rows going on. And then just put that right in here. We want this three dimensional effect. Now I’m gonna take the white ones. I got the white ones too. Same thing. I’m just gonna snip all these off about two inches from the top. And then we’re just gonna place them inside. Okay, just place these in around the red and just have some sticking up so you get some height to it as well. Last one. This is moving so fast I forgot to show you. Look, in the thrift store, there’s two prices. 2497. And there was this price here. 97 cents. So I asked him what Price is it? They’re saying, you want it now, you take it for 97 cents. So here we are. Okay, look what I have now. I also got these off clearance at the end of the video. I’m gonna add this up and tell you how much I spent on this project. You’re gonna be surprised at how little I do this for. These are rope lights. So take the rope lights, start here at the edge and put them all through these flowers right around them. You can zip tie this in if you wanted to, but I’m not going to because like I said, I want to be able to use this basket as themed throughout the entire year. This isn’t just for summer. These are battery powered lights. Don’t use solar for this project and you’ll understand why. Okay, I got these blue flowers. Can you see we’re all patriot here? Red, white and blue. But I don’t like this blue. So I got some blue spray paint left over in the garage. Cost me nothing. I’m just going to glue them up. Look at that. Look, that’s so much nicer. See how pale that is? Just take the spray paint. Just hit it perfect. If you get it on the greenery, it’s okay. I know you’re wondering what I’m gonna do back here, but it is going to blow you away. Take these blue and then stick them in. We’re slowly getting the pool noodle covered. Up. So you won’t be able to see much of it when we’re done with this, but we do want to see the lights. You got to see these lights when this is lit up at night. So take the blue, put it all the way through. I’m gonna just snip off some more. This is so easy. And this one is relatively inexpensive to do. Thankfully, I got the basket for ¢97. Okay, you didn’t forget about this. This is almost dry. Overflowed a little bit. It’s gonna be great. The gloves have come off. I got my red, white, and blue flowers. We’ve got a rope light. This is gonna look great at night. Now we got our all American bunting, right? It’s called bunting. I don’t know where that name came from. This I picked up for a dollar 25. So if you’re keeping track of how much I’m spending on this. Dollar 25 for this? We’re just gonna tack this up right under here. I’m gonna hook it onto the clasp of the basket. That looks like that is straight. Okay, don’t forget to cut off the loose ends. And make sure you get the ends of the zip ties. We don’t want any unnecessary stuff sticking out. Okay, guys, full disclosure. This thing did not work. I thought it was gonna work. I saw it on TikTok. It doesn’t work. So I have plan B. My friends sent me pizzas from Chicago at Christmas. They Came in this. Thank you, Jeff from Chicago. Put it right down in there. Now let’s take this to the front door. Help yourself. Packages. Don’t help yourself to my packages. Help yourself. And then packages. Here, fill this with ice. That and I got drinks cause it is 110 degrees here today and I’ve got packages coming. This is gonna be amazing. Thank you. Okay, well, that was a success. Be sure to check the comments. I’m gonna post a photo of the nighttime pic as soon as the sun goes down. Remember, if I can do this, you can do this. And I did it for less than $27. Yes.
