So I know I’ve brought up the different types of things to expect being black in corporate America. And of course, it’s all outlined in my new book, available for purchase on Amazon. Running a special discount price for 4 99 right now. Please support your boy. But in this video, I wanna go over the importance of documentation. this is one of the most important things you can do as a black person, really, anybody in corporate America. Because a lot of times these people are sitting, waiting, watching and plotting on your downfall. And this is something I had to learn from experience. It’s not what happens, it’s what you can prove. Because these people are very sneaky, very maniacal, diabolical. And they will sit there and act as if they didn’t just do or say what they did. These people will literally set you up for sabotage, set you up to lose your job just because they don’t like you. So you need to put everything these people do to you in writing. Have it typed, have it written in a notepad. Whatever it is, just make sure you’re keeping notes on their behaviour. Because best believe these folks have a whole dossier on you. They’re waiting on the right moment where they Can build a case to get rid of you. And they do it in such a slick and sneaky way, you won’t even notice they’re really asking you certain questions, monitoring the way you work, just to see if there’s a chink in the armor they can expose to get you out of there. Make sure to document and screenshot emails, text messages you deem as passive aggressive. If you ever have felt uncomfortable reading those, or during a meeting or meetings with co workers, write it down. If you know, just notice blatant racism, blatant disrespect. You begin to pick up a pattern of discriminatory practices, write it down. You have to be able to show a pattern of times you were made to feel uncomfortable. This kind of stuff gives these companies the creeps. They don’t want a lawsuit or to be seen as racist. And sometimes all they need is a reminder that you peep what’s going on. You have to document what these people do, what happens, because they will try to lie on you. They will try to make things up, sabotage you. But when you have documentation, a lot of times it can cancel out their lies and deception. But proof is key here. The document. When you may have been reprimanded about something that another co worker was not reprimanded for, document it. Document the meetings when your ideas may not have been selected for an extended period of time, or never. Document Document. Document. I can’t emphasize it enough. And for more survival tips, you can purchase my new book, Working While Black A guide to Survive Corporate America, available now on Amazon. Special discounted price until next week for 4 99.
