Unseen Struggles of the Social Media Generation: The Mental Toll of Viral Criticism

You know, a lot of times the older generation will call us soft, right? But I just want to point out one thing. They have never, ever felt what it’s like to be on the wrong side of something viral and have everybody in the world either 1. Making think pieces about you or 2. The creativity of the jokes people make insulting you and what that does to somebody mentally. I want you to read this. It says, Julian Newman coming home after fumbling a future in the NBA, being 5 7, and seeing his sister on Twitter. When you dig deeper, all Julian Numan tried to do was play basketball. He didn’t do anything really crazy. And if you go to his comments every single day, he just loves basketball. There’s somebody telling him to get his CDL or give it up. Another example. Cuffum Cuffum was deemed the ugliest man on the planet on this very app, right? And you know how many people made jokes? Imagine you have to log in every day and see that. Another example. Now, neon might have caused this because he faked his death in the past, but let’s just say it’s real, right? Let’s say he only had a couple days to live. Look at the comments. Neon ain’t dying. We ain’t that lucky. Praying for these four days to go by quickly. Only could hope this was real. Like, god damn. So all I’m saying is, yeah, we might Not have been able to say literal slurs. But, hey, this generation ain’t as soft as you think. If you can go through that and still keep pushing in life. But you. You pretty strong.
