time for an update on baby 7 our premature full who is now six months old he was born two months pre mature and a month before normal full viability and he is now at the university of Tennessee and so weekly we’ve been giving updates on his progression and the last few weeks have been nothing but good news and so I’m gonna let Doctor Urscini talk about him for a little bit and then give you a few video updates after that 7 world updates uh no major changes this week so still doing well we’re starting to wean him off you know just short periods of time without his orthotic so you see he’s got the left front off and the left hind is just in a support bandage um so you know he’s he’s not ready to be done with those completely but we’re we’re trying to stress him a little bit um and and promote a little bit of normalcy our long term goal is that yeah he doesn’t need any orthotics ever still doing well radiographs look great blood work is doing well he’s comfortable um you know wandering around a lot other major update is he’s actually eating some some concentrate for us so he is eating some air full feed um he doesn’t love it but uh it is gone at the next meeting time meal time so you know happy with that uh he does still get some milk not gonna lie um it’s super cute so he does still get a little bit of milk during the day um and then the only other major change or you know that I just wanna talk about is we have been um since his surgery been treating him with pulse electromagnetic therapy so this is a leg wrap uh from Response Systems post electromagnetic therapy and really any of the research modalities any of the or any of the the treatment modalities excuse me uh therapeutic laser therapeutic ultrasound pulse electromagnetic radio frequency all of those ones even shockwave to some regard we extrapolate mostly from evidence that we have in humans so we don’t have a large volume or sometimes very many at all studies dedicated to horses or even dedicated to animals at all um so you know those studies to to prove that we’re actually having benefited tissues to prove that these things actually work the way that we think they should work and also almost more importantly they’re not doing harm so actually answering those questions uh does take research to do and unfortunately that that takes money to do it um so people have been asking I know in the comments how can we help how can we help other horses like 7 honestly that would probably be the biggest contribution that you could make um is to a a research fund you know we have a few here at at CBM um we can share the links to those honestly every $5 helps um so you know don’t be afraid to just just throw your name in the hat and and help any which way I personally am really interested in biomechanics my main research focus is on the back and the top line um what do what do kissing spines mean what is happening to the system how do those horses move how can we diagnose those horses sooner so that they don’t need surgery what rehab modalities what exercises should they be doing to get back to work um all of those questions are are the ones that I wanna answer in addition to you know how do we clinically help help other foals other horses with problems like 7 so um feel free if if you feel so inclined to to wanna help with that um otherwise sevens just cruising we’re yeah again cruising altitude so he’s he’s definitely gaining weight for those interested in donating to research purposes with the university of Tennessee um you can go to the link in my linktree I will have a link there it is a safe link to go through but baby 7 is doing amazing literally we couldn’t be happier with all the news that we’ve been getting lately he’s been going outside now he doesn’t love bugs and one question I’ve been getting and Doctor Ursini you know said he’s been gaining weight um but you know why is he a little ribby why are we not you know feeding him more one thing is he’s super spoiled and wants milk he doesn’t want grain and so he’s just now starting to eat some grain but also we don’t really want him gaining a ton of weight just due to the fact that more weight on those joints is harder on them and also we don’t really want him hitting any gigantic growth spurts right now either so yeah he’s been spending some time out of his orthotics which makes more time for physical therapy on those limbs when they don’t have the orthotics on he has been so much more mobile getting up and down by himself um he has been super like so much more stable um and it’s just so so great to see it is something that’s kind of uncharted territory but just like Doctor Ernie Ursini said with research we’re hoping that this will help you know future preemie falls and we really couldn’t be more thankful to the care that seven has gotten his entire life and we are so excited for his future our goal is always to keep his comfort and his quality of life as number one and right now he is just going up up up let’s all say a prayer that one day he can come home and hang out with the mini farm or hang out with Bo or somebody at the farm that is our goal so thank you for your prayers and I’ll see you in the next update
