Negotiating the Emotional Journey of Buying a New Car”

I think going for a new versus slightly used car is such an emotional psychological decision for me I don’t want a new car I would not buy a new car for myself however my mom is in her 60s she’s never had a new car and for years and years and years I’ve heard her talk about how she wished she could drive a new car my fiance and I have both leased new cars both come to the conclusion that we just don’t care about cars enough if we were to get another car it would be like a slightly used 3 to 4 year old car paying for my mom’s new car was actually quite complicated because she doesn’t have a good enough credit score to get a reasonable car loan as I was paying it all upfront and cash I wanted to be aggressive on the negotiations did a lot of research online I read a lot of forums about people’s experience negotiating this specific car I asked him what the MSRP was he told me like I don’t know 58,000 I asked him what the drive off price was so then he printed out a sheet with an itemized Bill of what the final price is going to be it was like 65,000 or something around there then I was like is there any way we can get this to 50,000 my dad was in the room and he was playing bad cop so he was like if you can’t get it to 50,000 then we’re gonna walk away he left for like 20 minutes and at that point I was like mom is not gonna drive away with her car today because there’s no way they’re gonna be able to knock 15 thousand dollars off Lo and behold he was able to get our drive off prize to 50,000 so I literally wired 50 thousand dollars exactly and mama got her car
