Here in the upper Midwest, we find ourselves face to face with an author prepping for his day. Not much is needed for this life of solitude, but the liquid and morning treat do allow his brain to fully awaken for his next stage of the morning writing. This particular author is without an office, but he manages to craft new tales for his audience from the comfort of his IKEA chair. However, he must be mindful because he is not alone. A Labrador retriever is present, typically located in the center of the living room. This canine benefits from the author’s routine by staying in close proximity to the chair where crumbs may occasionally fall. The author’s day is not without danger though, for within his mind lurks a steady antagonist, self doubt. Luckily, the Labrador retrievers companionship keeps the dog at bay, and both the author and the canine benefit from the company of each other.
