Smoking Bans and Government Control: A Critique on Public Health Policies

Dear comrade Sir Kier Starmer you damp flannel and wannabe dictator seeing as you now wanna ban smoking in pub gardens in nightclub smoking areas and outside of sports stadiums got a couple of little things I wanna ask since when was it the government’s prerogative to tell us the British Electorate yes. the people that put you in power what we can and cannot ingest into our systems when it harms only us on private property? you see last I checked smoking is still perfectly legal for now and on private land whoever owns that land they can dictate what happens on that land so if a landlord doesn’t want people smoking in their pub garden fine they can say I don’t want people smoking in the beer garden that’s their prerogative it is their land not yours and people can go and find another pub to go and smoke in the garden off you have no right to tell the hospitality sector what they must now enforce let’s be honest pubs are probably gonna take a hit from this and they were the most massively affected industry during Covid if you can remember that and they also took a 20% dive back in 2006 when smoking was banned indoors now I do agree with that because even as a smoker I will never smoke indoors now you’ve come at this from the angle of it all about public health as 80,000 people a year die every year from smoke related incidences and it causes a massive strain on the NHS not gonna argue with that however you make so much money out of the duty on nicotine and tobacco products roughly £3.5 billion pounds a year which is more money put into the pot than taken out as a strain on the NHS and if you wanna play that game let’s play that game you see 180,000 people die every year because of diabetes so what are you now gonna do just outright ban sugar? stop people from eating a donut? no how dare you it’s just ridiculous I mean come on we know as smokers That it is dangerous and it will eventually kill us but if we want to do that then that is our prerogative as individuals to make that choice I mean what are you gonna do next ban alcohol it wouldn’t surprise me try prohibition yeah, America tried that it didn’t end that well when you tell people what they can and can’t put into their bodies and you make it all illegal you create a black market things get far more dangerous and it’s just absurd the government has no right to tell us what we can and can’t do okay the health aspects I understand this but smoking outside second hand smoke basically becomes completely negligible at that point so don’t you dare say any of that all your numbers, facts and figures that you’re putting out there make no sense stop it you are not in communist Russia even though I know you wish you were darling now if you enjoy having political discussions like this make sure you drop a follow cause I do stories like this every single day make sure to click like if you enjoyed the content and why don’t you comment your thoughts down below but most importantly ladies and gentlemen I hope you have a fabulous day and As You Were
