Staying Safe in Shark Territory: The Importance of Constant Vigilance

So you never wanna give your back to a shark. And so what that means is turning and looking around at all times. And so I like to start with a scan that you should be doing and completing within 10 seconds. If you’re being alert and scanning the areas, giving individuals eye contact, they treat you totally different. More is an aware predator. By turning your body and doing a full, complete turn. From a distance, a shark can tell that, hey, it’s not very easy to distinguish which way is the front, which way is the back. And I don’t necessarily have the opportunity to come in and sneak up behind this individual.
