Exploring Indonesia: A Day of Volunteering and Cultural Immersion

First day of my work exchange here in Indonesia. So let’s see, the day consists of this coffee plantation is super old and historic and it has a big museum in it today. My first task is to clean the piano. Sing that. Sing the shift is supposed to be from 8 to 11. Just helped cleaning the museum. It’s 8:23 and she’s like, okay, I believe you seems finished like being clean, like you can go just relax free.

Okay, this volunteering thing is really different than what I’m used to. Cuz it kind of seems like the volunteers are here just to help actual like local employees that already work here. Major new park is free lattes since it’s like a fancy coffee. I’ve already had my free breakfast at until 2:00. So I’m going to get caught up on some work in the coffee shop. I’ve just done some work and now I’m gonna be watching one of their YouTube videos and creating captions. This is the best price ever. Okay, so why do I look like that? That’s humbling. My next task is just watching this YouTube video that they made. And they already have captions for it, but I am just going through and making sure that they’re like correct and pretty much done with my volunteering shift for the day.

That’s all there was lunchtime. So we get soup and rice and tempeh love them. Nighttime activity is football demo, ending the night by taking a walk through the local village and going to the little supermarket. So day one is finished. I spent a total of zero dollars today. First impression is that I think I really like this work exchange. Day one, good start.
