Revitalizing Your Kitchen Tools: How to Care for Wooden Cutting Boards and Cookware

if your cutting boards are looking dry and cracked you’re probably not taking care of them and one of the main reasons might be you’re just not conditioning them often enough and here’s your reminder to do so for this one you’re just gonna need a food grade mineral oil or a cutting board oil simply apply a light layer of oil all around the cutting board including the sides and the bottom and let it sit overnight next day once that wood grain has had the chance to absorb as much oil as possible I just simply wipe away the excess this will give it a light layer of Protection against water or any of those meat juices and bring that natural wood grain back to life now how often you want to do this depends on how much you’re using your cutting board but I do it about every once a week this is the same process that I applied to any wooden cookware such as bowls spoons and even these hand forged Mesquite wooden handled knives on a side note this Texas slicer is probably one of my favorite knives now we know how expensive these custom cutting boards can get especially once you get into those end grain cutting boards and by doing these steps maybe once a week you’re protecting your investment and just remember wood is naturally antimicrobial making it the safest material for cutting boards
