Four Years and Counting: A Review of the Long-lasting Phillips Hue Motion Sensor

This sensor has a battery life of four years. I’m not joking. I bought this in 2019, so it’s been four years. I never removed the batteries. So I don’t even know what kind of battery it is powered with. I’m about to discover it with you. It’s a motion sensor developed by Phillips Hue. It’s probably the best sensor that you can have in the market. Because it other than detecting motion, it can detect illuminance or the brightness level in the room. The motion of course, and the, the temperature. The tech powering this thing is Zigbee. Zigbee would allow your sensors to run for years with just a single battery. It’s not cheap. Uh, I remember paying it around the 40 to 50 euros at that time. And as you can see here, it has 3% of battery. So it’s still not dead after four years. Obviously I could run it like for a few months or weeks. Let’s open this up. It’s a real uh, life testing. It’s not bullshit. This thing do be lasting four years. So it’s actually two Phillips, uh, triple A batteries here. So it’s gonna be super easy to replace. And here we are, 100% battery. We are ready for another 4 years. Also, I wanted to precise that this is absolutely not sponsored video. I wish, because I genuinely love Phillips Hue. Their products are amazing and their motion sensor is insanely good.
