Classroom Setup Chronicles: Day Five – Decorating and Organizing for First Grade Success

we are back for day five of setting up my first grade classroom we are finally in the decorating stage which is my favourite part and we are honestly in a pretty good spot because by this day there was still a week before school starts but I wasted no time so I got right to work hanging out my secret stories if you never heard of secret stories before basically it’s a supplement to any phonics program and it gives every sound a cute little story to help the kids remember I have always wanted secret stories in my classroom so I finally decided to just purchase it myself and give it a try this year especially because I’m in first grade now so I will keep you posted on how it goes next up I tackled hanging the rest of my sound spelling cards this is where I had them in my third grade classroom so I thought it was perfect to keep in there next up I decided to tackle my felt right wall for the past two years I’ve procrastinated hanging these up but I decided to just get a jump on it this year and get it done I always get so many compliments on them and my students love seeing their work come out I also have a discount code with them so I will put it in the caption and I also have another felt art project that I’m gonna hang somewhere else in my classroom so stay tuned for that I wasn’t really sure where I wanted to put my calendar this year but I figured for first grade it was easiest to just put it on the whiteboard so it’s just easily accessible for morning meeting then it was time for a little lunch break I’ve kinda just accepted that these frozen dinners from Lin Cuisine are easiest and what is gonna get me through so I don’t end up just getting fast food or take out everyday this next project I was very excited about I ended up getting some prints from GS Print Shop if you haven’t heard of her please go check it out because she has so many prints I had such a hard time choosing in hindsight I probably didn’t need to get them this big but I still think it looks really essentially the rest of the afternoon was just spent cutting and laminating so there’s not much else to see other than that over the summer I made some new classroom decor like these money posters and 2D shape posters as well as the new alphabet also most of what I show here is in my teacher drive so if you’re interested then check it out so this is kind of where we ended the day I feel like we made a good amount of progress not as much as I wanted to make obviously but I’m content with where we’re at every single year I truly forget how much work goes into classroom setup there are just so many tedious tasks takes so long and you just feel like your to do list is never ending let me know if you also feel this way because I know I can’t be the only teacher that feels like this but that’s it for now and I will see you tomorrow for day six
