Keto-Friendly Grocery Haul for a Budget-Friendly Stay in Galveston

Come with me to Kroger in Galveston. Our Airbnb is full of pots, pans, everything we need to cook. So we’re doing a ketogenic nutrition plan while we’re here. But I’m gonna give you options for carbs as well. We’re gonna look for things like protein, healthy fats, lots of veggies, and we’re gonna look for low calorie toppings. So Brit and I are gonna use this, a degaio that’s made fresh here. Be great for chopping eggs and other things. If y’all are looking for quick carbohydrates, I love these campfire naans. This is a quick carbohydrate. Nothing wrong with that. I buy those from me at all the time. Usually I go to the deli and get fresh sliced meat. But here, with the borscht, it always comes in contact with shellfish, and I have an allergy, so I come to the prepackaged stuff. When I grab this, half a gram of fats, got a little bit of sodium, 360 milligrams, no carbs, and 11 grams of protein for 2 ounces. I’m not gonna get the honey smokes. We don’t want the sugars in it. Girl. Charcuterie. What? That’s eight bucks. Hard salami, pork, beef, salt, dextrose. You can’t have that. We put Brit’s type 2 diabetes in the full remission, and so anything with dextrose, we don’t touch. So we’re just gonna leave those aside. So here’s the smoked Gouda, 90 calories a slice here. Eight grams of fat, no carbs, five grams of protein. I like To wrap the Turkey inside of, like, a slice of cheese. Oh, do you want mustard? Oh, I like that. Instead of the prevalent. Only 140 mg of sodium per slice, too. This is good. Try that. I found these little egg wraps in here, too. One gram of fat, very little sodium, 105 milligrams, no added sugars, and 3 grams of protein. It’s basically egg whites, whole eggs. Got a little citric acid as a preservative, which is fine. Contains egg. Mostly made from eggs. This is a great little wrap for you guys. Broccoli. I think one will be good. So this is the romaine blend I usually get, like, at HEB. So I’m just kind of buying the same stuff just in a real small shopping trip. Another way to really squelch hunger cravings is just by munching on some veggies. And just very little ranch in there. Remember, ranch has got calories in it. It’s got fats, got sodium. When we’re working, we can just sit and munch on this instead of munching on chips or crackers or something like that. Tons of good fiber. Gotta stay hydrated. I know we don’t like a lot of plastic in our life, but we’re on the road here. Remember, life’s about balance. Little give and take. Eggs are always my go to in the morning, so it’s a great source of protein. The fats within the egg yolk, if you’re doing a ketogenic nutrition plan, are great. If You are doing a carbohydrate based diet. You can take the yolks out like I do. If you see my lives. There’s 8 grams of carbohydrates in the Oikos. This one has 7 grams of carbs. If you’re doing carbs, this is fantastic. Even on a ketogenic diet, you can get away with one of these a day. I’ve got to have my coffee in the morning. But even though I just do decaf cause my heart doesn’t like it after open heart surgery. Gotta have our nonstick spray. 90% lean ground beef. Let’s do that, girl. They got some thin cut beef ribeye. You wanna do that? Yeah. We could just dice these up pretty small and then toss some garlic salt on it. We spent $120. But remember, a lot of this I’m taking home. And also there’s two of us. We’re here for two and a half days. Now, if you try to eat out every single day, you went out for breakfast, you went out for lunch, you went out for dinner and you bought some snacks along the way. You can easily spend over $100 a day. I’m guessing I saved over $100 just by being smart about what I bought.
