Yeah, this is one of the problems we see with a lot of contemporary queernorm fantasy and I don’t like complaining about it because these authors are making an effort to include queer characters in their stories even if they don’t understand the implications that would necessarily have on the world building I mean, points for effort, right? And it’s nice to see that effort but I do find it quite frustrating at the same time because the world just doesn’t really actually hold together that well in situations like this and the queerness feels slapped on top It can often feel like tokenism and I just don’t like reading fantasy books about worlds that don’t really make sense It gets in the way of my enjoyment
