Game Day Lunches and Snacks for a Pop Warner Family of Six: Tips, Tricks, and Life Hacks

Pack game day lunches and snacks for my family of six. Three of my boys play Pop Warner football, which is tackle football. I know in different areas they call it different things, but over here we call it Pop Warner. But they all play. We have 7U, 9U, and 11U. My husband coaches and I’m also team mom for 7U. Buying food throughout the day for a family of six can get pretty pricey pretty quick. So I pack all the main meal options and then I’ll let them go get like snow cones or popsicles from concession cause we still wanna support. My kids will still come back with like a hot dog because they always know the moms working the concession. But the damage could be so much worse if I did not pack them food. So for last week’s game day I made them some cookies. Not from scratch cause I do not have time for that. I’m also making these little sandwich sliders on a Hawaiian bread, putting Turkey meat and then some salami on it, then some cheese, a little bit of shredded lettuce, and then the Boars Head deli dressing. Also, if you notice, I record this video a little bit different than I typically do the other ones. Like the other ones, I record it as a time lapse, but some of y’all complain that it’s just way too fast. Doing it this way definitely was much more time consuming Took up a lot of space on my phone. Took a lot of time to edit the video, but I heard y’all’s concerns and I listened. But just a forewarning, this video is a lot longer than my previous ones because it’s not in that time lapse set up. But now that the sandwiches are all put together and cut up, I’m gonna put them in these little individual stainless steel containers. I got these little stainless steel containers from Pottery Barn Kids over six years ago, and I had, like, the bento box version of as well, which I used to pack the kids lunches in it a lot. I still do, but not as often, but they’re my favorite, cause you just throw them in the dishwasher and they look brand new still. Next up, they’re gonna get their fruit, and I’m just gonna give them a ton of oranges. Honestly, I should have did more, because once the kids, like, other teammates, make it to our tent, they blow through these oranges in less than, like, two minutes. I feel like the second the other kids come to our tent, they’re like, do you have any oranges? And I’m just like, yeah, open up the cooler. And then they destroy it. While I was cutting out the oranges, the cookies were done baking, and they look so good. I’m gonna put the oranges into a gallon ziploc bag, and then I’m gonna put them into the freezer. And this way, it’ll act as, like, an ice pack. Yesterday at the game, they were actually still frozen. And one of my husband’s friends came to the game as well, and he had a couple of oranges and was like, I actually like it better frozen, but that’s a little hack that I Learned on TikTok from y’all. I put all of the cookies, I wrapped it in a Parchment paper, and then just put it in a little Tupperware. And then for their protein, I ran out of eggs. Elias actually just Learned how to make scrambled eggs, so now he’s in the scrambled egg era to where he wants to make scrambled eggs every single morning. But I didn’t even realize that we were so low on eggs. So when I went to boil these, I was like, oh, my gosh, we only have three left, and we got four kids, so someone’s gonna have to fight for that egg. Thankfully, nobody actually fought for the egg. RJ, my oldest, didn’t want one, so we’re good. Also the night before, to save me time, in the mornings, I fill up Layla and I Stanley with ice and water. The boys are in, like, a Big Water jug, like an Under Armour one, so I do theirs in the morning because it’s not as insulated as a Stanley. And now this is the next morning. So Saturday morning, like 5:00am, I’m gonna load up my little cooler with all Of our food. Usually I use my little Lily cooler, but I accidentally left a boiled egg in it from last week’s game and it smells so bad. Anyways, I’m loading this one up with the little sandwiches, and then I also got a veggie tray. Put some pickles in there and applesauce for Layla. Then I put the oranges right on top so it can be like an ice pack, you know? Cold air sinks, I really don’t have to fill the cooler up with much ice. And then my drinks couldn’t fit into the cooler, so I’m gonna put it in a little lunch bag. Layla and I both got an lollipop, Ronaldo got a Gatorade. And then I’m not bringing any additional drinks for the boys because they get post game drinks and snacks, and they can honestly just go to concession and fill their water up with ice again. And I pack extra water bottles for them now for the dry snacks. Are getting some chips, pirates booties, fruit snacks, cookies, nerd clusters. This is like a signature thing for us ever. Anyone gets a touchdown or a pig or a really good tackle, they come to our tent saying, coach, you promised us some candy to put some wet wipes, trash bags, and a cell phone charger.
